We offer a range of specialised courses to meet the mandatory training requirements of the National Care Standards, and to support staff working within the care environment. We provide certificates which link the content to the relevant National Vocational Qualification. Our trainers are occupationally competent and hold recognised training qualifications. They are all CRB checked. We pride ourselves in making training an enjoyable learning activity which is accessible to all. - Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults
- An extremely important issue which needs to be fully understood by anyone who works with service users. Are your staff or volunteers aware of the many areas which can be considered as ‘abuse’? A sensitively delivered programme dealing with a highly sensitive subject. Choose from either a 3 hour aimed at care support workers, or the 6 hour course aimed at supervisors or managers.

- This programme will enable participants to share their thoughts on working in a fair and consistent manner with all individuals, will highlight the common problems faced in the care environment and will look at the legal implications of not adhering to current legislation.
Duration: 3 hours - Communication Skills
- Everything we do is a form of communication This two hour session looks at the many ways in which we communicate and how we can ensure our communication with others is effective. An interactive course which is not dull!
Duration: 2 hours - Principles of Care
- Explores the way in which care workers value those they care for. It addresses individuality, rights, choice, privacy, independence, dignity, respect and partnership. What these are and how the care worker can support them.
Duration: 2 hours - Care Planning & the needs of the Service User
- How do your staff contribute to care planning? How do they involve the Service User? Who else should be involved? This course explores the issues surrounding care planning.
Duration: 2 hours - Continence Management
- A comprehensive training session detailing how bladder/bowel work, all aspects of continence care, reasons for and resolving these problems. Discussion on equipment and resources.
Duration: 2 hours - Infection Control
- A highly topical subject, very much in the news these days! There are risks to anyone not following correct procedures, both staff and service users. This course promotes best practice to reduce the risk of infection or contamination. What to do – and what not to do!
Duration: 2 hours - Observation & Reporting Skills
- This short programme enhances the care workers’ observational skills when identifying relevant information for care planning updates and reviews. It also looks at the implications of impartiality – fact as opposed to opinion.
Duration: 2 hours - Death & Bereavement
- This course helps anyone who works within the care environment to understand the process of grief, what it is, and the stages we pass through – known as the bereavement curve. It also shares thoughts on how we can support ourselves and others through the grieving process.
Duration: 2 hours
Duration of each course: 2.5 hours for a maximum of 12 candidates - Fire Safety in Care Homes
- This course helps home staff to identify the risks associated with fire, how to prevent fire and actions to take in the event of a fire.
Duration: one hour - Fire Safety for Domiciliary Care
- Designed to enable domiciliary care workers to identify risks associated with a fire in service user’s home, how to prevent fire and the actions to take in the event of an incident.
Duration: one hour - Introduction to Food Hygiene
- Designed for individuals who are involved in the preparing and/or handling of light meals and drinks for service users. Programme identifies the main causes of food poisoning and the manner in which individuals should work to prevent contamination of food. Courses are available for individuals working in both care homes and domiciliary care.
Duration: 3 hours - Certificate in Food Hygiene Awareness (Royal Society for the Promotion of Health)
- This is a short basic course on food hygiene intended for front line food handlers engaged in ‘low risk’ tasks. Certificated by the RSPH it includes a 30-minute multiples choice paper.
Duration: 3.5 hours - Fundamentals of Food Hygiene (Royal Society for the Promotion of Health)
- This qualification covers the basic principles of food hygiene and in more depth than the half-day certificate course. It is intended for anyone who handles, prepares and services food, and is particularly suitable for those working in kitchens or undertaking front-line duties in the preparation and serving of meals. Certificated by the RSPH.
Duration: 6.5 hours + 2.5 hours study time - Introduction to Health & Safety
- Designed specifically for care workers to gain an understanding of the many areas of risk within the care environment. Candidates will be made aware of their personal responsibilities for health and safety, identifying risks, knowing their own capabilities and procedures to follow in an emergency.
Duration: 2 hours - Fundamentals of Health & Safety in the Workplace level 1 (Royal Society for the Promotion of Health)
- This level 1 qualification is designed to create a better understanding of health and safety issues. The emphasis is on employee awareness of health and safety, ensuring they work in such a way as to promote health and safety to others. They will be capable of identifying potential hazards and minimising them. Multiple choice test and hazard spotting exercise.# Certificated by the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health.
Duration: 6.5 hours + 2.5 hours study time - First Aid for Care Workers
- Designed specifically for care workers, this is a basic first aid programme which will enable the individual to operate in an emergency situation to ensure the casualty is kept safe, secure and maintain life until the emergency services are in attendance. Course covers severe bleeding, cardiac arrest, shock, faints and loss of consciousness, epileptic seizure, chocking and difficulty with breathing, fall, fractures, burns and scalds, poisoning and electrocution.
Duration: 3 hours - Supervision Skills
- Are your team leaders, supervisors or managers adequately equipped with the knowledge to undertake supervision sessions with staff? Do these sessions link to your yearly appraisal system? Course includes both theory and practical application.
Duration: 3 hours - Key Working
- Do you have a Key Working system in place? Are your staff aware of the role of the Key Worker? This course is designed for both staff and service users who need to understand the implications of a key working system, how to choose key workers and what their responsibilities are.
Duration: 2.5 hours - Management Training Days
- Our one-day training programme supports individuals undertaking the Leadership and Management Award for Care Services. Each day is designed to combine theory and practice to cover the underpinning knowledge for single units from the award.
